What is a title block?
A title block is the framed panel on a drawing sheet, usually set in the bottom-right corner, that holds the sheet’s identifying metadata: its drawing number, title, scale, and current revision, along with the discipline, sheet size, and the names of who drew, checked, and approved it. It is the part of the sheet that says what the drawing is, so a reader can identify, file, and reference the drawing without reading the drawing itself.

How a title block works in practice.
Every controlled sheet in a set carries the same title block. It is drawn once as a sheet frame and reused across the set, so the drawing number and revision are always in the same place. In AutoCAD the frame is a block whose attributes hold each title field, ready to be filled in when the frame is inserted.
For an asset owner, the title block is where the drawing record starts. The fields it prints are the same fields a drawing register is built from, and the revision printed in the block is the reference a reader trusts to know which issue of the sheet they hold. At handover, owners check that the standard title block has been used and that each tag in it complies with the asset’s metadata requirements.
